Welcome

Welcome to Reception!

In Reception, we have two classes; Butterflies and Bumblebees.

We also have a brand-new shared outdoor area to play in, so we spend lots of the day inside and outside...simply wherever our play leads us. We are lucky that we are able to go to our school woodland at least once a week for Forest School.

As you will see, there is lots of time for play in Reception, as this is how we learn best, but we also have more focused sessions during the day too for Phonics, Maths and Literacy.

We have recently had our outdoor area renovated which has allowed us to facilitate more learning opportunities for the children! Take a look at our new Outdoor Learning Area, and our lovely Reception Classrooms!

  Play Based Learning!

We know that children learn best when they are fully engaged and motivated, and the best way for that to happen is during child-led play. Our classrooms and outdoor areas are well resourced with open-ended toys and games. Reception is the time to learn to play together, negotiate with friends, and work collaboratively on amazing creations. Much of our learning is done in the environment, as we play and interact with the world around us.
 Forest School

"Nature is the greatest classroom, where every leaf, every bird, and every ray of sunshine holds a lesson waiting to be learned."

We play and learn in the forest once a week. No matter the weather, we get on our wellies or sunhats and run, explore, and create!

Cooking

All of our children in Reception enjoy developing their cooking skills by baking every Friday Morning. They strengthen their fine and gross motor skills by mixing, kneading, and pouring. We make all sorts of food including cakes, bread, and pastries!
Important Information

Children start school promptly at 8:40am and finish at 3:10pm. Both drop-off and collection should be at the classroom door.

Children will have PE every Wednesday. They should wear their usual school uniform with trainers as their footwear.

We use Dojo as our communication platform, this is where we share pictures, communicate with parents/carers, and update on important information and events that are happening at our school.
Supporting with Learning at Home

Below are some links to help support your child. Children will thrive when they are given opportunities to continue their learning at home. These games will really help to build upon your children's learning.
