We do a range of adult supported and child led activities in Acorns. We have fun with our music and movement sessions, enjoy visiting and exploring our woodland area and baking cakes, biscuits and celebrating foods from different cultures using some of our favourite recipes. We also do 'Dough Disco' daily to help build up our core strength and muscles ready for writing!
We ask for £1 a week voluntary contribution towards snack and cooking.

How a key person works
We feel it’s important that your child feels safe and secure. Quite often we find that a child will settle well with a particular member of staff, this person will become your child’s key worker. We will work with you at all times through verbal, written reports and information that you give us at the times of registration.
We welcome you into Acorns at any time.

We can be contacted through the main school – 01793 521903 and by email: acorns@oaktree.bluekitetrust.org - this email will be checked on a regular basis by all Acorns Nursery staff, and we would endeavor to get back to you as soon as we can.

You can also contact us via one of our Nursery mobiles.

Autumn Term 2025

Term 1 and 2 went by so quickly, we had lots of fun. Our new children who started with us in September have settled very well.
During Term 2, we have had work done to our garden. It has now been extended and we are enjoying the space! Over the next few months we will be developing it further, but for now it is just nice to have so much room to run around in!
We were very busy during Term 1 and 2 - in the run up to Christmas we had lots of fun activities to do. We also put on a Christmas Carol Concert for our parents/carers - we were a bit shy, but everyone said how amazing we all were. We even had a Christmas Party and got to meet Father Christmas. We had a Christmas Stay and Play session, too where are parents/carers got to come in to Acorns.

Term 3

We have so much planned for Term 3 already. We have Science Week, and will be taking part in lots of different experiments. It is also Bird Week. We will be making bird feeders, and placing these around the school for the birds to eat. We will also be learning about penguins, too.

Below are some pictures of just some of the fun things we got up to in Term 1 and 2.
A typical day in Acorns. When we first arrive we encourage the children to hang up their belongings. Each child's peg has their name and a picture of them up on the wall so that the children can find their own pegs independently.
We all then meet in one room to do some scarf dancing. This activity, along with our Dough Disco helps the children to build up their core strength and muscles in their shoulders which they need to help them to hold a pencil. We dance to a variety of different music, and this helps us to start our day before we go off to play.
The children will then go into one of the 2 rooms we have in Acorns, and outside will also open up, too. We encourage free-flow, and go outside in any weathers! Snack and adult-led activities will also take part during this time, too.
We enjoy Circle Time in Nursery, and this is programmed to help us develop our Literacy and Numeracy skills.
We finish each session with our Story and Singing Time. During this time we sing lots of different Nursery Rhymes, and will read stories with the children. We then end with our 'Goodbye Song'.

This survey gives you the opportunity to let Ofsted know what you think about your child's school.

Applications for school Reception places has now closed. However, you are able to make a late application, this will not be checked until all on-time applications places have been allocated.
For children in Acorns who will be going up to Reception in September 2026, we will begin making transition visits to get them used to their new environment. We will also start going up to the hall and taking part in some PE sessions. This will all be very new for the children, but will help them to prepare for all the changes,
