Term 2

Welcome to term 2.
We have got many exciting things planned for this term, including visitors into school and a trip to the theatre as part of our later enquiry: What is Creativity. Please see your class teacher for more information on this.
Below is our enquiry map for the first 4 weeks of our term, covering our enquiry: Where does our water come from? As part of this enquiry, we will be scientists and geographers, exploring the water cycle, the processes of evaporation and condensation, and building on the map skills we developed in term 1, by using atlases and digital mapping to locate water sources.
At the end of the term we will be asking: What is creativity? During this enquiry we will be artists, engineers and musicians, exploring art, dance, drama and music to make our own judgements on what we like and dislike in performance, as well as presenting our own examples of creativity.
In Maths this term we will be classifying and sorting shapes in geometry. Our key vocabulary will be:
We will then be learning our 6, 7 and 9 times tables and corresponding division facts.
We ask that children practice these at home, in preparation for our multiplication tables check in June. Some helpful websites are: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
Finally we will be adding and subtracting using 4 digit numbers. Why don't you ask your child to teach you what they have learnt in class? This will help them to consolidate their learning, and challenge them to use vocabulary and methods learnt in a problem solving way.
In English this term we will be writing non-fiction texts, focusing on using fronted adverbials within setting descriptions.
Here are some useful websites:
We will also be learning about explanation texts and using this within our enquiry to write about the Water Cycle.
