Our school council consists of twelve children, one from each class from Year Six right the way down to Year One. We meet every other week with Miss Breakwell where we discuss our focus projects. We also help to lead our class council meetings so that everyone gets a chance to share their ideas.
Our school councillors are chosen at the start of the year and represent their class for the whole year.
In term 2 we had some visitors in from other schools around the country. School Council answered their questions about life at Oaktree.
Here are some of the things that were discussed.
What is special about Oaktree?
"We get to be ourselves."
"You meet unique people."
"Teachers help you to learn what you really need to know."
"It's very friendly here."
"It's really good for learning."
How do your teachers help you?
"They talk things over with us again if we need to. They give us resources to help us too."
"They give you as much information as you need and if you need more help they'll put you with someone who can help you."
Getting to know each other and thinking about our priorities for the school.
Raising money for Children in Need. This year we did a drawing competition, non-uniform day and we collected coins to create a large Pudsey.
