2016-17 term dates

Times of the school day

School starts at 9 am and finishes at 3 pm.

There are assemblies as a whole school on Mondays and Fridays. The Friday assembly is very special and is our Awards Assembly. We are delighted to welcome you to see your child collect an award on Fridays.

Absence

If your child cannot come to school because they are ill you need to phone the school office to let them know.  Attendance in school is very important and your child should be in everyday that they are well.  Coughs and colds are also common especially during the winter months.  We have a good supply of tissues and most children are well enough to come to school with a cold.

However, if your child has sickness or diarrhoea they need to be kept off school for 24 hours after they were last ill.  This is to prevent it spreading to other children.  Infectious illnesses such as chicken pox and measles have different periods where they are contagious.  Please call the office if you are not sure – Mrs Watkins is an expert!

95% attendance (which is about 1 day off every 6 weeks) is a legal requirement.  We have to send registers to the Borough and if attendance is low an Education Welfare Officer will contact you.  Persistent low attendance can result in families being fined or taken to court.  We work with families to prevent this happening, if you have difficulty getting your child to school please speak to their teacher.
